Thanks to the generosity of Cullman area residents, the Cullman County Home Builders Association collected several boxes of non-perishable food items at their Children’s Outdoor Rodeo on April 26th.  All items were  donated to Cullman Caring for Kids.  Pictured from left to right are Andy Starnes, CCHBA President; Cindy Dyer, Sherrie Hunter, Sheila Burkes and Javon Daniel.

The Cullman County Home Builders Association held their Spring Golf Tournament recently at Terri Pines Country Club.  Third place went to Stone Creek Construction’s Team:  Andy Starnes,  Lance Frankham, Alex Kontogeorge and Buddy Whitaker.  CCHBA President, Andy Starnes, presented the Second Place trophies to the Team from Schwaiger Co.:  Wes Warren, Scotty Blair, not pictured were David Miller and Don Corneilus.  Finally, 1st place and the Builders Cup Championship went to Wayne Door Company’s Team.  Andy Starnes presented the awards to Dale Henderson, Marty Hardman, Tim Fulmer and Ricky Self.  Congratulations to everyone and thanks for a wonderful event!

Volunteer, Courtney Dennis, helps Carson, Cameron and Carly Starnes into one of the many bouncers at Sportsman’s Lake Park during the Cullman County Home Builder’s Association’s 9th Annual Children’s Outdoor Rodeo.  Hundreds of children received a free t-shirt and also enjoyed the free activities provided at the park during this event.  On behalf of our Builders and Associates, I would like to thank everyone who helped make this day special.  We appreciate YOU!

This year’s recipients of  a $500 J.B. “Boots” Hill Memorial Scholarship, provided by the Cullman County Home Builders Association, are all graduating seniors at Cullman High School.  Pictured are Andy Starnes, CCHBA President; scholarship recipients Benjamin Calligaris, son of Anthony and Maleigh Calligaris; Braxton Battles, son of Hayden and Tina Battles; and CCHBA 2nd Vice President, Hayden Faulk.  Scholarship recipients not pictured are Will Barnes, son of Jimmy and Mary Barnes; and Calan Hollingsworth, son of Greg and Johnna Hollingsworth.  Congratulations to each of our Scholarship winners!

Jeff at Timber Framing Workshop

This is a picture of CCHBA President, Jeff Hill, at the Timber Framing Workshop.  The City of Cullman, in cooperation with Southern Timberwrights, recently held a Timber Framing Workshop.  Several Cullman County HBA members attended the workshop.  The purpose of the workshop was to provide Cullman area residents an introduction and hands-on instruction in the basics of timber framing during construction of the city’s new 7,250 sq. ft. European-style timber frame structure (Cullman Farmers Market) which is being constructed at the corner of First Avenue and Arnold Street N.E.

CCHBA Home & Garden Show was held February 10&11 at the Cullman Civic Center, with a total of 40 exhibitors and customer traffic of more than 500 adults during the course of the weekend.

The Cullman County Home Builders Association hosted its annual Golf Tournament at Terri Pines Country Club.  Proceeds from this and other events throughout the year are used to help support the J.B. “Boots” Hill Memorial Scholarship Fund, Christmas Love and other charities.   

 

The first place team and 2007 “Builders Cup” Champions for the second year in a row were from Alabama Brick Delivery (Score 39.32)– Bill Sanders, Ken Downs, Trey Wheeler and Jason Dillard.  The team from Mitch Smith Chevrolet (Score 40.75) – Doug Smith, Craig Laney, Blake Thrasher and Jim Stenso, came in second.  The third place team was sponsored by Schwaiger Company (Score 43.88) – Steve Schwaiger, Dustin Schwaiger, John Schwaiger and Don Corneilus.  The Longest Drive was awarded to Mike Stacks, Closest to the Line went to Sam Schilleci and Closest to the Pin was Jason Dillard.

 

The Association appreciates our sponsors,  participants and volunteers for this year’s Golf Tournament.   Special recognition goes to Mitch Smith Chevrolet for providing the Hole-In-One prizes, as well as Knight-Free Insurance and Jean Deese Agency for sponsoring our lunch.    Thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s tournament a success.

CCHBA President, Jeff Hill, presents the prize money to the First Place Winner...Jonathan

The Cullman County Home Builders Association held its first annual “Skeet Shoot” on Saturday, September 30th, at the Maple Ridge Gun Club. More than 40 individuals participated in this event for the benefit of our J.B.”Boots” Hill Memorial Scholarship Program and other local charities supported by the CCHBA. Thanks to those who helped make this event a success...Chick-Fil-A, Wilborn Outdoors, Premier Bank, Regions Bank and all who came out on Saturday for the shoot! Lori Barlow was the lucky winner of the Stoeger 12 Gauge Shotgun from Wilborn Outdoors!

Many other gift certificates, cash awards and door prizes were given away as well. Winning the “Skeet Shoot” Tournament with a score of 43 was Jonathan Adams; in second place with a score of 42 was Lance Robinson and with a score of 41, our President, Jeff Hill, came in third! Honorable mention to Hayden Faulk for having the next highest score of 37 and encouraging the CCHBA to organize this sporting clays event. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful morning at the shooting range! Congratulations to all our winners!

Following a “hearty” breakfast, provided by Sheila Burks and Sherrie Hunter, many volunteers from the Cullman County Home Builders Association began construction on the 2005 Christmas Love Playhouse Saturday, August 13th. Those present included Danny & Sherrie Hunter, Kenneth & Sheila Burks, Andy Starnes, Jeff Hill, Kevin Baughn, Anthony Bath, Hayden Faulk, Ethan McClellan, Richard Evers and Karen Dennis. The Association is hoping to display the playhouse at the Fair Parade on September 17th, and then at various locations in Cullman during the months of September, October and November. Tickets will also be on sale at many local businesses during this time. The winning ticket will be drawn during the CCHBA Christmas Party on December 10th. Proceeds from this project will be donated to Cullman’s Christmas Love program in late December. You may contact the CCHBA office at 739-5110 for more information.
